Our Work Starts With Understanding People

Khulakunye Consulting works with farm owners, managers, and team leaders who know that people issues, not technical ones, are often the biggest constraint on performance, unity, and long-term sustainability.

Instead of starting with training or workshops, we start with understanding:

  • How your teams are functioning

  • Where energy is being lost

  • Which dynamics are helping or hurting performance

  • And how leadership behaviour flows through your organisation

Our work together is grounded in Industrial and Organisational Psychology research, practical field experience, and a deep respect for the realities of agricultural life.

About Khulakunye

Why Assessment (Must) Comes First

Many organisations jump straight to solutions:

  • training

  • motivation talks

  • leadership programmes

But without understanding what is actually happening in the system, these "interventions" often miss the mark.

At Khulakunye, we believe:

You can’t develop what you don't first understand.

That’s why our work together is assessment-based.

That helps leaders see:

  • where openness, motivation, trust, accountability, and well-being are strong

  • where they are under strain

  • and how these patterns ripple across teams and leadership levels

Only then do we focus on development.

Our Focus Areas

Our work together typically centres on:

  • Team functioning and team climate

  • Leadership impact and leadership load

  • Communication, trust, and accountability

  • Motivation, engagement, and well-being

  • Cross-level dynamics between workers, supervisors, and management

At the moment, my work also focuses mainly on agricultural and rural organisational contexts, where relationships, pressure cycles, language, and culture play a critical role in how teams function.

How I Work and the Process We Follow

My typical approach when working with leadership is structured, practical, and human:

  1. Assessment
We use carefully designed tools to identify patterns in team and leadership dynamics.

  2. Sense-making
Data alone doesn’t change behaviour. Therefore, I help leaders interpret what the results mean in their specific context.

  3. Development
Based on our assessment(s), we design targeted interventions. That can mean conversations, team sessions, coaching, or workshops, all focused on the areas that matter most in your situation.

This process allows leaders to move away from firefighting and towards intentional leadership and healthy team functioning, over time.

Khulakunye means “growing together.”

It reflects my belief that:

  • Strong organisations grow from strong relationships

  • Leadership is relational before it is technical

  • Sustainable performance is built together, not imposed from the top down.
